Lead, Government Engagement, Strategic Policy - Strategy

The duty of the role is to develop and execute strategies to engage with key government stakeholders at the International, National and State levels to advance the interests and objectives of the company. The position requires building strong relationships with government officials, policymakers, and agencies.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in any field.
- A postgraduate degree will be an advantage.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in stakeholder management, project management and government relations or related fields.
- Proven track record of developing, building and maintaining effective relationships with government stakeholders.
- Strong business acumen and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to analyse complex problems and develop creative solutions.
- Strong understanding of government processes, policies, and regulations, and ability to analyse and interpret complex information.
- Excellent project management skills, including the ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage project scope and budget, and balance competing priorities.
- Able to produce high-quality public sector documents for various stakeholders. The documents may include parliamentary replies, cabinet papers, policy briefs, speeches, and reports.
- Excellent understanding of the rules, procedures and protocols in the government sector.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute government engagement strategies and plans that align with the company's goals.
- Building and maintaining relationships with key government stakeholders through effective communication and engagement programmes.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment of government engagement strategies and tactics.
- Represent the company in government affairs events, forums, and industry associations to promote thought leadership and brand recognition.
- Ensure the team stays up-to-date on relevant policy and regulatory developments, and provide timely and insightful analysis to company leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Monitor relevant developments and changes related to key government stakeholders at the International, National and State levels and provide regular updates to leadership and stakeholders.
- Manage correspondences with government stakeholders, including drafting letters, emails, and other communications, and ensuring timely and appropriate responses to all inquiries or requests.
- Provide guidance to employees on government protocols and compliance requirements.
- Lead a team of government affairs professionals, provide mentorship, guidance and support.
